Ruined Mind is a solo project from Russia that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays an atmospheric and depressive form of post black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Life Goes On After Me" which will be released on February 26th by Nailed Nazarene Industries.
Nature and digging sounds start off the album before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the music also has its atmospheric moments. Keyboards are also utilized at times along with the guitar leads also bringing in more of a melodic post metal style and all of the songs also stick to a slower musical direction.
On this recording Ruined Mind takes the atmospheric, depressive and post style of black metal and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and depression themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ruined Mind and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive post black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Have Never Meant Anything To You" "My Time has Come To An End" and "Naive". 8 out of 10.
