Satan's Cross are a duo from Mexico that plays an occult form of black metal with some elements of doom and heavy metal and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Celebration Of The Fallen" which will be released on March 15th by Sun & Moon Records.
Horror movie style synths start off the ep before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction while elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the music. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the music also being very heavily rooted by both the 80's and 90's era's.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also remain very true to an old school style and the music also brings in some traditional elements and the closing track is very long and epic in length and synths also return on the closing track. and bring in a mid 60's occult rock atmosphere The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Satan's Cross are a very great sounding occult black metal band with some elements of doom and traditional metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Third of The Fallen". 8 out of 10.
