Nawaharjan are a band from Germany that plays a raw and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Lokabrenna" which will be released on February 20th by Amor Fati.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with some angry sounding black metal screams which also utilize screams at times. A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the spoken word parts also give the recording more of a ritualistic feeling when they are utilized.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. The riffs also get very melodic sounding at times and throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them along with all of the music also sticking to a heavier direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and is a concept album based upon the Thurisan Brandawegiz a darker form of Germanic rune magick that focuses more on Loki.
In my opinion Nawaharjan are a very great sounding raw and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Maino" "Sunjo" "Umbibrautiniz" and "Hradjungo". 8/5 out of 10.
