This is a review of a split album between U.S.A's Imprecation and Greece's Black Blood Invocation and the album is called "Diabolical Flames Of the Ascended Plague" which will be released in December as a joint effort between Helter Skelter Productions and Regain Records and we are going to start off the review with Imprecation a band that plays a blackened form of death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark and heavy sound along with all of the musical instruments also sounding very powerful. Grim black metal screams and evil sounding keyboards can also be heard in some parts of the recording and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
Death metal growls are also used quite a bit throughout their side of the recording along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very chaotic style as well as the music being very heavily rooted in the 90's along with a touch of doom/death metal also being added into the slower sections of the music. The production sounds very dark and old school while the lyrics cover Luciferian, Satanism, Occultism and Death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Imprecation and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Emperor Of Infernal Spirits".
Next up is Black Blood Invocation a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of war, black and death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some ritualistic soundscapes before going into a very fast and brutal war metal direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the music also adding in elements of death metal and grindcore.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. while synths can also be heard briefly. The riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies as well as some bestial growls also being utilized at times. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover occultism and Necronomicon themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Black Blood Invocation and if you are a fan of war, black and death metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Evocation Of The Alla Xul" and "Atazoth Nexion".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and if you are a fan of war, black and death metal, you should check out this album. 8 out of 10.
