Moloken are a band from Sweden that has been featured before in this zine and plays a dark and atmospheric mixture of black, sludge, doom and death metal with some elements of post hardcore and this is a review of their album "Unveilance Of Dark Matter" which will be released in 2020 by The Sign Records.
Atmospheric and distorted sounding drones start off the album before going into a heavier sludge metal direction which also mixes in some post hardcore elements. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody.
Vocals also bring in a mixture of black metal screams and angry shouting vocals while the slower sections of the songs also show an influence of doom metal. When growls are utilized they also add in a touch of death metal along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic post metal style.
Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with one track also introducing avant garde style keyboards onto the album. As the album progresses the vocals start using a semi melodic tone briefly, a few brief instrumentals are also added onto the recording and most of the music sticks to either a slow, or mid paced direction as well as the songs also having their experimental moments. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, bizarre fantasies and inner demon themes.
In my opinion this is another decent sounding album from Moloken and if you are a fan of black, sludge, doom, death metal and post hardcore, you should check out this recoridng. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Surcease" "Venom Love" and "Unveilance Of Dark Matter". 7/5 out of 10.
