Nova are a band from Italy that plays an epic form of pagan black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Veniamo Dal Cielo" which will be released in December by ATMF.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling. Vocals are mostly blackened style growls as well as all of t he musical instruments also having a very powerful sound them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of dark sounding melodies. Grim screams can also be hear d in some parts of the songs as well as the acoustic guitars also giving the songs more of an epic and pagan orientated atmosphere when they are utilized.
As the album progresses spoken word parts and whispers can also be heard briefly along with the guitar leads being done in a very melodic style when they are finally added into the music as well as the songs also adding in a decent amount of 90's influences but also keeping it modern at the same time, one of the tracks is also a ritualistic instrumental that also introduces folk instruments onto the recording. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Italian and covet paganism, war, death, esotericism and elitism themes.
In my opinion Nova are a very great sounding epic pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Durezza e Ascetismo" "FegataCovadonga" and "Dio Del Ghiaccio e Del Lampo". 8 out of 10.
