Artach are a band from Newfoundland, Canada that has recently been featured in this zine and plays a very raw, melodic and epic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2 self released singles that where recently released on Youtube.
"Fire & Ice".
The song starts out with some dark and melodic riffing along with a brief use of spoken word parts. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling while the vocals are done in a very grim yet angry black metal style, the song also brings in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic and old school style. The production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover coldness and winter themes.

"Ice Throne".
The song starts out with some heavy riffing while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic style. The vocals are also done in a very great style while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody. When the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them as well as some clean vocals also being used briefly. The production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover coldness and winter themes.
In conclusion I feel these are 2 very great soounding tracks from Artach and if you are a fan of raw, melodic and epic black metal, you should check out these singles. 8 out of 10.
