Krumkac are a band from Belarus that has been featured before in this zine and plays an atmospheric form of pagan black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Kryvijskaja" which was released by Barbatos Productions.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the album along with some epic sounding keyboards a few seconds later which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Clean female vocals a re also added into some parts of the album along with some aggressive pagan black metal screams and shouts as well as the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style. One track also introduces duda's onto the recording which also adds in some elements of folk music and all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the album also closes with an instrumental track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Belarusian and cover Paganism, Nationalism, Patriotism, Love, the preservation of the pristine purity and beauty of nature.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Krumkac and if you are a fan of atmospheric pagan black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nas Sliach" and "Krylami Bielymi". 8 out of 10.
