Baume are a solo project from France that plays an experimental form of post black metal and this is a review of his self released 2020 ep "Un Calme ente les Tempetes".
Atmospheric sounding synths and programmed beats start off the ep while all of the tracks are very long and epic in length. Programmed beats and electronic music elements are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with the music also getting very experimental and adding in post rock touches.
Clean playing is also added into some parts of the recording while the music also adds in a great amount of shoegaze influences. Heavy and melodic riffs are also mixed in with the experimental side of the songs and also takes the music into more of a a post black metal direction along with the ep sticking to a slower direction and one song also introduces spoken word parts onto the recording.
Baume plays a musical style that takes experimental, electronic music, post black metal and shoegaze and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics when they are utilized briefly cover night themes.
In my opinion Baume are a very great sounding experimental post black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Un Calm entre les Tempetes". 8 out of 10.
