France's Neige Morte have returned with a new recording which shows the music going into more of a dissonant mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "IIII" which will be released in May by Division Records.
Electronic beats and static start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with some death metal growls. When guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very dissonant style and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats.
Clean playing can also be heard briefly while the tremolo picking during the faster sections of the songs also gives the music more of a raw feeling. A couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Elements of post metal can also be heard at times as well as the music also capturing an improv atmosphere in some of parts of the recording and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses touches of harsh noise can also be heard. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Niege Morte and if you are a fan of dissonant black and death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Svart Hall" and "Lamna Inga Spar". 8 out of 10.
