S.T.R.A.H (Satanic Tormentors Recreating Abusive Hell) are a band from Bulgaria that plays a very raw, satanic and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2019 demo "Massive Defloration Of Souls".
A very dark sounding intro starts off the demo which also introduces grim black metal screams and demonic voices onto the recording before going into a heavier direction. During the faster sections of the songs a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
The songs also add in a great amount of 90's era second wave influences while the guitar leads also add in a primitive style. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also adding in elements of death metal as well as the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody at times, ritualistic sounding synths can also be heard briefly.
S.T.R.A.H plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school in the 90's second wave tradition. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover Satanism, Paranormal Activity, Fear, Death and Misanthropy themes.
In my opinion S.T.R.A.H are a very great sounding raw, satanic and misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Night of blasphemy" and "Evil Spirit In The Mirror". 8 out of 10.
