Cosmic Burial are a solo project from Germany that plays an instrumental and atmospheric form of ambient black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Impakt"which will be released on April 30th by Purity Through Fire.
Ambient sounding synths start off the album while also adding in a variety of many different sounding keys throughout the recording as well as mixing in with the heavier sections of the music. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with all of the drum beats also being programmed.
Atmospheric elements can also be heard at times when the music goes into a heavier direction while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them, as the album progresses a brief use of classical guitars can also be heard on a couple of tracks and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
Cosmic Burial plays a musical style that takes ambient and atmospheric black metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Cosmic Burial are a very great sounding instrumental and atmospheric ambient black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "E040" and "99942". 8 out of 10.
