In Tenebriz are a solo project from Russia that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of ambient, atmospheric black and doom metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Bitter Wine of Summer" which was released by Grimm Distribution.
Clean playing starts off the album while the music also gets very atmospheric sounding at times along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and some of the tracks are instrumentals.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the slower sections of the songs also add in elements of doom metal. Clean playing also makes a return on most of the later tracks along with some ambient style synths also being utilized at times as well as some songs also adding in a small amount of death metal growls.
A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with one song also introducing programmed beats onto the recording as well as the music also taking the melodic doom/death metal style of the 90's and mixing it with more modern atmospheric black metal touches, stringed instruments can also be heard towards the end. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from In Tenebriz and if you are a fan of ambient, atmospheric black and doom metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bitter Wine of Summer" "Stellar Dust" and "The Birth Of August". 8 out of 10.
