Abberation Nexus are a 1 man band from Australia that plays a very heavy Norwegian style form of black metal with some death metal elements on this recording while also introducing some of the symphonic elements that they are planning on utilizing more in the future and this is a review of their self released 2013 ep "Libro Lacet".
"Rite Of Eternal Dominion" begins with with some keyboards and sound effects as serves as an intro for the ep.
"Hawking" begins with some Norwegian style black metal guitar riffs and drums which leads up to some screams and a small amount of death metal influences before slowing down and adding some psychedelic keyboards in the background and then the music gets more brutal along with a small amount of deep growls which also leads to the guitars adding in more melodic elements as well as switching back and forth between slow and fast parts.
"Iconoclast Soliloquy" begins with some heavy guitar riffs which leads up to some drums, keyboards and death metal growls before adding in some blast beats before the black metal vocals start kicking in which leads to the song going into a more slow and melodic direction then switching back and forth between slow and fast parts along with a brief use of spoken word parts.
"Burn The Book Of Lies" begins with some heavy guitar riffs before adding in blast beats and black metal screams before slowing down and adding in some keyboards but returning to the faster parts after awhile before switching back and forth between slow and fast parts and after a couple of minutes a small amount of keyboards are added to the song as well as some brutal guitar guitar solos and leads which are utilized for awhile.
'Graced With Darkness' begins with some dark guitar riffs before going into a more fast and primitive direction along with some blast beats, keyboards and black metal screams and after awhile the guitars start utilizing some melodic parts as well as some Gregorian chants being used briefly before getting heavy again as weell as switching back and forth between slow and fast parts.
Song lyrics cover antic christian and blasphemous themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound for being a self released recording while the bass guitars are mixed down low in t he mix.
In my opinion Aberration Nexus are a very great sounding brutal black metal project with symphonic and death metal elements and if you are a fan of this musical genre you should check out t his ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hawking" and "Burn The Book Of Lies". RECOMMENDED BUY.
