This is a review of a split album between Poland's Non Opus Dei and Morowe called "Dziwki Dwie" which was released in 2013 by Witching Hour Productions and we will start off the review with Non Opus Dei a band that plays a satanic form of black metal mixed with modern day metal elements.
"Dziwki Dwie" begins with drums and heavy guitar riffs and then some powerful bass guitars and high pitched black metal s creams make their way into the song and towards the end there is a brief use of spoken word parts and the guitar riffing utilizes some progressive and djent elements.
"Kres Hanby" begins with some heavy guitar riffing before some black metal screams and blast beats make their way into the song before slowing down a bit and adding in some melodic elements but still utilizing some of the blast beats and after awhile guitar leads start coming in and out of the song.
"Szaleniec Glupier Opeetany" begins with heavy guitar riffs and drums and then the blast beats and black metal screams come in while the guitar rffing stays more in the slow and mid paced direction.
Song lyrics are written in Polish and cover Satanic themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound to it.
In my opinion Non Opus Dei are a good sounding band black metal band with more mainstream elements and would not appeal to the most hardcore fans of this genre, but if you are looking for something that is a little bit different, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Dziwki Dwie". RECOMMENDED.
Next up is Morowe a band that plays post black metal.
"Obustronne Oczy Patrza" begins with some soft ambient sounding synths before some heavy and melodic guitar riffs and leads along with some drums start kicking in and then the black metal screams start kicking in and after awhile the music gets a lot faster and towards the end the leads start coming back in and out of the song as well as going into a softer direction for awhile along with some acoustic guitars before getting heavy again and adding in some spoken word parts.
"Kat Kota" begins with some drone sounding synths before the melodic post metal guitar riffs come in along with some bass guitars and melodic vocals which evolve into black metal screams a few seconds later and when the riffing gets more powerful you can still hear the synths in the background and as the song moves on it starts getting more diverse.
"Czyj To Glos" begins with some drums and experimental style guitar riffs along with some synths in the background and this song is all instrumental.
Song lyrics are written in Polish and cover dark themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful and heavy sound to it.
In my opinion Morowe are a very great sounding post black metal band with the best music on this split and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Kat Kota". RECOMMENDED.
In conclusion I feel this is a good split and I would recommend it to fans of black metal that are looking for something different. RECOMMENDED.
