Battle Path are a band from Tennessee that plays a mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Ambedo" which was released by Inherent Records.
Acoustic guitars start off the album giving the music a progressive feeling along with some synths being utilized in the background and after a few minutes the music goes into a heavier musical direction that is mostly in a very raw, modern and atmospheric black metal along with some grim screams and blast beats.
When the music slows down a more psychedelic style of doom metal is added onto the recording along with some death metal growls being used at times and the solos and leads that the band uses are very dark and melodic sounding and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
At times the music can be very experimental and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and some of the screams bring in elements of sludge while some of the riffing also brings in melodies at times and they also bring in an instrumental track and while the music is mostly slow it does have its fast and raw black metal moments that are more rooted in t he modern day style of the genre.
Battle Path plays a musical style that takes a very modern form of atmospheric black metal and mixes it in with doom metal and a touch of progressive and experimental music to create a style of their own, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness, misery and death themes.
In my opinion Black Path are a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric black metal and doom and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Raging Host" and "Ascension". 8 out of 10.
