This is a review of a split 10 inch between Spain's Khmer and Norway's Livstid which was released as a joint effort between Disciplin Media, Halo Of Flies and LonglegsLongarms and we will start off the review with Khmer a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of black metal and crust.
Their side of the split starts out with an avant garde and experimental sound along with some acoustic guitars a few seconds later which also leads up to a heavier musical direction along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and they also mix in high pitched black metal screams.
Melodic crust punk guitar leads can be heard in the music at times while the faster sections have more of a raw style which also utilizes a small amount of blast beats and you can also hear a decent amount of melody in the riffs and the song which is also 10 minutes in length also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while also adding in some clean playing at times, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics are writeen in Spanisg and cover angst, rape, corruption and introspection themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Khmer and if you are a fan of crust influenced black metal, you should enjoy their side of the split.
Next up is Livstid a band that plays a mixture of d beat and crust.
Their side of the split starts out with aggressive screams and melodic riffs that also leads up to a grind influenced crustcore sound that also mixes in blast and d beats as well as a small amount of growls and there is also a brief use of clean singing present on their side of the split and the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody while some songs also bring in angry shouts, and the tracks also bring in a great mixture of both mid paced and fast parts, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics cover angry and political themes.
In my opinion Livstid are a very great sounding mixture of d beat and crust and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kapitalist" "Daukjot" and "Stein For Stein".
In conclusion i feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of black metal and crust. 8 out of 10.
