Solis Occasum are a solo project from Russia that plays a very raw and blasphemous form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 album "Unholy Faces Of Dead" which was released as a joint effort between Symbol Of Domination Producitons and Hass Weg Productions.
Grim screams start off the album and the music goes for a very fast, raw and old school black metal sound a few seconds later along with a great amount of blast beats as well as the vocals getting more high pitched and the music is very heavily rooted in the early 90's second wave style while also having a touch of war metal style speed.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and there are also a few tracks that are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses a brief use of melody and guitar leads can be heard along with a small amount of first wave influences and a few seconds of clean playing can be heard mixing in with the heavier riffs.
Solis Occasum plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school being very heavily rooted in the early 90's and ignoring all of the modern trends for 20 years, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover demons, blasphemous and Anti Religion themes.
In my opinion Solis Occasum are a very great sounding raw and blasphemous black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Carnival of Demons Among The Burning Churches" "Unholy Faces Of Dead" and "The End of Religious Deception". 8 out of 10.
