This is a review of a split album between Indonesia's Nicrotek and Hellvete called "The Night Of Glory" which was released by Wolfbound Production and we will start off the review with Nicrotrek whose previous album I reviewed and plays an atmospheric and depressive form of ambient black metal.
His side of the split starts out with a very dark ambient sound along with some programmed beats a few seconds later before adding in more of a raw, melodic and depressive black metal sound that also uses high pitched suicidal screams and when the music speeds up blast beats can be heard and the music also brings in clean playing at times.
Throughout his side of the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of his tracks are long and epic in length and when solos and leads are utilized they are done in a melodic musical direction and his side of the split closes with Lifelover and Trust covers, the production on his side of the recording sound s very dark and raw while th e lyrics cover nature and depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nicrotek and if you are a fan of ambient and depressive black metal, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hanging In The Sky" and "Nackskott".
Next up is Hellvete a duo that plays a depressive form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with wind sounds along with some clean plying a few seconds later that leads up to a heavier sound along with a great amount of high pitched depressive black metal screams and you can also hear some melodic guitar leads being utilized at times and you can also hear a touch of doom metal at times.
After awhile elements of ambient can be heard along with a small amount of acoustic guitars and all 4 of the tracks stick mostly to a very slow musical direction while the music does speed up a bit on the last track and also brings in more of a raw feeling, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depression and death themes.
In my opinion Hellvete are a very great sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Under Despair Moon" and "Moksa".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of ambient and depressive black metal. 8 out of 10.
