Hexis are a band from Denmark that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of black metal, crust, sludge and hardcore and this is a review of their 2012 7 Inch "Seputus/Fatum" which was released as a joint effort between Monotonstudio Records, Braincrushing Records, Enjoyment Records, Black Lake Records and Gardens And Skaven.
A very fast and technical black metal sound starts off the ep along with some screaming vocals and elements of sludge and hardcore a few seconds later and the vocals range from both black metal and hardcore style yelling and you can also hear noisy reverb's in the music at times along with some clean playing.
All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the riffs bring in more of a raw style of black metal and both of the tracks are done in a more modern style of the genre.
Hexis continues the post black metal style of previous recordings and the hardcore, crust and sludge elements are still mixed in along with a great amount of melody, the production sound s very dark and raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics are written in Danish and cover nihilism, and abstract thoughts.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Hexis and if you are a fan of post black metal, sludge and hardcore, you should enjoy this 7 inch. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Fatum". 8 out of 10.
