Lauxnos are a solo project from Russia that plays an atmospheric and depressive form of post black metal and this is a review of his 2014 album "My Dead ocean" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records, Metallic Media, and Deleting Soul Productions.
Clean playing starts off the album giving the music a progressive feeling and after a few seconds post rock style melodies make their presence known on the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the solos and leads also going into the same musical direction.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and clean singing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and on the second track the music starts adding in more of a heavy and atmospheric black metal style along with some depressive screams which they also mix in with the post rock elements and some songs also bring in a great mixture of both clean and heavy parts and all of the music sticks to a very slow musical direction.
Lauxnos plays a style that mixes atmospheric and depressive black metal with post rock to create a style of his own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover ocean, lonely, philosophy and mysticism.
In my opinion Lauxnos are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "My Dead Ocean Part 1" 'My Dead Ocean Part 5" and "Waves Of My Soul". 8 out of 10.
