Briargh are a solo project from France that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 album "Eboros" which was released by Morbid Shrine Productions.
Tribal beats and melodic yet ritualistic chanting starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw black metal direction that also uses a great amount of blast beats and the vocals are very grim and high pitched while the music is very heavily rooted in the mid 90's second wave style and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar leads are utilized they are very dark and melodic sounding and the riffs also use melodies at times and the music also has its atmospheric moments along with all of the musical instruments all having a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses elements of pagan folk music can be heard in certain sections of the recording as well as a small amount of male and female clean singing vocals while some later tracks also bring in a brief use of acoustic guitars.
Briargh plays a style of pagan black metal that is very raw and old school while also having its melodic, epic, medieval and atmospheric moments, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Paganism, Cantebria, Mythology, History and Philosophical themes.
In my opinion Briargh are a very great sounding pagan/black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Silum Sego" "Sun Of The Dead" and "El Nubero de Samhain". 8 out of 10.
