Stone Healer are a solo project from Connecticut that plays a progressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 ep "He Who Rides Immolated Horses" which will be released in December by Tridroid Records.
Clean yet distorted playing starts off the ep and after a minute the music starts to add in more of a heavy modern black metal sound along with some angry screams and the music also mixes in a lot of progressive elements and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
Clean singing can be heard in the music at times while the faster sections also bring in a small amount of blast beats along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length and the songs also alternate between both clean and heavy parts and the solos and leads that are utilized are very dark and melodic sounding and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and one track also brings in acoustic guitars and female vocals.
Stone Healer plays a musical style that is very heavily rooted in the modern style of black metal and also mixes in a lot of progressive music elements and influences from a variety of many different genres to create a musical style of his own, the production sounds very profesisonal while the lyrics cover dark, personal and spiritual themes.
In my opinion Stone healer are a very decent sounding progressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "He Who Rides Immolated Horses" and "Lark's Head". 7/5 out of 10.
