This is a review of a split album between France's Ysengrin and Chile's Black Grail called "Nigrum Nigrius Nigro" which will be released in December by Caverna Abismal Records and we will start off the review with Ysengrin a band that plays an occult mixture of black, doom and death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark and psychedelic sounding organ that also has a ritualistic feeling to it along with a variety of many different sounding keys before adding in evil whispers and after the intro drum beats and grim black metal vocals are added into the music along with some powerful sounding bass lines.
After awhile heavy guitar riffs, death metal growls and tortured yet melodic vocals make their presence known in the music and the songs are also very experimental and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard along with the music also incorporating a great amount of melody, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Hermitism, Esotericism and Ancient Times.
In my opinion Ysengrin are a very great sounding experimental and occult mixture of black, doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "In Saturnine Negredine Part One".
Next up is Black Grail a band that plays an occult and satanic form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with dark and ritualistic ambient style synths and their only track is 15 minutes in length and a few seconds later melodic guitar leads and grim yet high pitched black metal screams are added into the music as well as some melodic ritualistic chants and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and a great amount of evil laughs can be heard in the song and when the music speeds up briefly a small amount of blast beats can be heard along with more of a raw black metal style, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism, Satanism and Death themes.
In my opinion Black Grail are a very great sounding experimental, satanic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of t he split.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fan s of t he more experimental side of satanic and occult black metal. 8 out of 10.
