Montes Insania are an international band with members from Russia and Ukraine that plays an avant garde form of post black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Absurdum" which was released as a joint effort between Symbol Of Domination Productions and More hate Productions.
A very fast, raw and melodic avant garde black metal sound starts off the album before adding in high pitched screams and a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and clean singing is also brought into the music at times.
At time s the music can be very atmospheric and also mixes in a great amount of post rock elements and when solos and leads are brought into the music they are in more of a melodic musical direction and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the keyboards and violins also enhance the avant garde and experimental elements that are present throughout the recording and there is also a great amount of variety to be heard in the songs and the music also brings in elements of depressive black metal into some of the later tracks.
Montes Insania plays a style of black metal that has a bit of the mid 90's avant garde influence but done with more of a modern, raw and depressive post black metal approach, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Montes Insania are a very great sounding avant garde, post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Absurdum" "Hospice For All" "Fadding Road" and "Black Road". 8 out of 10.
