Pestkult are a band from Germany that plays black'n'roll and this is a review of their 2015 album "Soul Collector" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and Narbentage Produktionen.
A very distorted amp sound and reverbs start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction along with some clean singing that brings a goth rock tinge into the music as well as a great amount of melodic guitar leads and when the music speeds up it goes into a very fast and raw black metal direction.
Blast beats can be heard in the faster sections of the music while the vocals also get high pitched and crazy sounding along with some spoken word samples being utilized at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music also mixes in elements of rock'n'roll and punk while whispers and elements of thrash and first wave black metal are also added into some of the riffing and one track also brings in a brief use of clean singing.
Pestkult plays a style of black metal that is very raw and mixes the first and second wave styles together along with some rock'n'roll and punk elements to create their own style, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and German and cover The Elder Idols, Plagues, Damnation, BDSM, Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Pestkult are a very great sounding black'n'roll band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Soul Collector" "Pestkult" and "Sick Occult Shit". 8 out of 10.
