New York's Teloch Vovin have returned with a new recording that continues the old school black metal style of previous recordings and this is a review of their self released 2015 ep "Further Down the Tunnel".
Clean playing and evil keyboards start off the ep and after the intro distorted reverb's black metal screams and heavy guitars make their presence known along with some melody being used at times and when the music speeds up it brings in more of a raw side of the genre along with some blast beats.
Deep death metal growls can be heard at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some tracks being very long and epic in length and the music goes for more of a 90's style of black metal and some of the slower riffs add in a touch of doom metal and there are also some ritualistic sound effects being utilized at times that give the music a the atmosphere of a 70's horror movie soundtrack along with a brief use of spoken word parts and the last track brings in a brief use of melodic chants.
Teloch Vovin creates another occult black metal recording that is mostly rooted in the 90's but also mixes in ritualistic music to update the style for modern days, the production sounds very raw, old school and heavy while the lyrics cover Thesitic occultism, Left hand Path philosophies, derpession and hatred.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Teloch Vovin and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Thaumiel" and "Adoration/Vexation". 8 out of 10.
