Blosse are a solo project from Quebec, Canada that plays a very lo-fi form of black metal with some elements of dark ambient and this is a review of his 2019 album "Nocturne" which will be released in November by De Tenebrarum Principio.
Field recordings start off the album before going into more of a heavier musical direction along with some synths also being added into the background. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody and all of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Elements of dark ambient are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with the music also capturing a very lo-fi atmosphere. When guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with some clean vocals also being used briefly as well as one track also introducing demonic sounding growls onto the recording.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses a brief use of stringed instruments can also be heard. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics are written in French and cover cosmic horror themes.
In my opinion Blosse is a very great sounding raw and lo-fi ambient black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "La valleeemaudite" and "Destruction". 8 out of 10.
