Tan Kozh are a band from France that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Lignages Oubiles"which will be released in November by Antiq.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction which also introduces grim sounding black metal screams onto the recording which also get very deep at times. The riffs also add in a decent amount of melody and when the music speeds up blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while they also add in a fretless bass guitar.
When guitar solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and as the album progresses acoustic guitars also make a return in certain sections of the recording along with the closing track adding in a small amount of clean pagan vocals. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover Ancient Indo European Myths and Paganism.
In my opinion Tan Kozh are a very great sounding pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "De Brest a Brest-Litovsk" "Sacrifice" and "A la goire d'Indra". 8 out of 10.
