Tragediens Trone are a band from Norway that plays a very cold and esoteric form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2019 album which will be released in November by Osmose Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with a brief use of spoken word samples before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the vocals being mostly deep yet angry black metal screams.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to t hem while clean vocals can also be heard briefly.
Ritualistic chants are also added on one of the tracks along with the music being very heavily rooted in the 90's but modern at the same time. Synths, throat singing and whispers can also be heard briefly and as the album progresses the riffs start adding in a small amount of melody, a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover spiritual awakening and apocalypticism themes.
In my opinion Tragediens Trone are a very great sounding cold and esoteric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cold Depths Of Solitude" "Stygian Fluke" and "Siphon Anima". 8 /5 out of 10.
