Wolfmachine are a band from the Netherlands that plays a mixture of black metal, industrial, ambient and drone and this is a review of their self titled 2018 album which will be re-issued on vinyl in November of 2019 as a joint effort between Dawnbreed Records and Arcane Angels.
Drones and harsh noises start off the album while the song that is presented on the recording is over 44 minutes in length. As the song progresses the music adds in some elements of industrial also being added into some parts of the recording and after awhile the music starts mixing in heavier riffing,
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling. Vocals are mostly high pitched yet demented black metal screams along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody at times.
The song also has its repetitive moments along with the same riffs and drones also being used for a few minutes at a time. When guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style as well as the track also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as adding in some ambient elements. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover loss of self, as the world is blurred, pulverized and consumed into oblivion.
In my opinion Wolfmachine are a very great sounding mixture of black metal, industrial, drone and ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. * out of 10.
