S.E.K.H are a duo from Spain that plays a mixture of black metal, experimental, industrial and noise and this is a review of their double ep compilation "Acephale & Arkhe Tenebre" which was released by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the compilation along with some chants and whispers being used in the background. The first track is very long and epic in length while the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding at times and synths can also be heard in some parts of the tracks.
Elements of industrial can also be heard in the heavier sections of the music along with the vocals being mostly distorted sounding black metal screams. When tremolo picking and blast beats are utilized they also give the songs more of a raw feeling as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very distorted style as well as some elements of noise also being utilized at times and all of the tracks also sound very different from each other along with the music also having its dissonant moments, demonic growls can also be heard briefly, the closing track also s hows an influence of death metal. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover a conceptual exploration of Bataille's notion of subversion and the entrancement of the abyss.
In my opinion S.E.K.H are a very great sounding mixture of black metal, experimental, noise and industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Acephale" and "An Abyss Of Excrements And Broken Teeth". 8 out of 10.
