Belgium's solo project Imber Luminis has returned with a new recording which shows the music going into more of an atmospheric and depressive mixture of black and doom metal direction and this is a review of his 2019 album "Same Old Silences" which will be released on October 26th by Naturmacht Productions.
Ambient style synths start off the album which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic style as well as both of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
Vocals bring in a mixture of growls and depressive black metal screams along with the music also mixing in a great amount of atmospheric elements. Clean singing can also be heard in some parts of the recording as well as the music also adding in a decent amount of post metal influences, clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and when the music speeds up briefly on the second track a small amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling.
On this recording Inber Luminis takes depressive black, atmospheric doom/death and post metal and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover sorrow, pain and suffering themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Imber Luminis and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black, doom, and post metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "SIlnce III". 8 out of 10.
