Moribundus Christus are a duo from Chattanooga.Tennessee that plays a very satanic and blasphemous form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "The Morbid Cult" which was re-issued in 2019 on cd with a bonus track.
A very fast sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of blast beats while the bass guitars have a very dominating sound to them. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they add in more of an old school death metal touch along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly grim black metal screams that also have their high pitched moments while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's era as well as some of the slower riffing also adding in a touch of doom/death metal, some of the music also shows a touch of blackened grindcore at times, one of the tracks is also an instrumental.
Moribundus Christus plays a style of satanic black metal that is very raw and blasphemous in the 90's tradition. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Satanism and Anti Christianity themes.
In my opinion Moribundus Christus are a very great sounding satanic and blasphemous black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Slay The Prophet" and "In Nomine Sathanas". 8 out of 10.
