Human Agony are a band from Victoria B.C, Canada that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Putrescence Of Calvary" which will be released in November by Invictus Productions.
A horror movie orientated intro starts off the album before going into a very fast, raw and brutal war metal direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals also bring in a mixture of black metal screams and bestial growls and the music also brings in a great amount of 90's and 2000's influences but also keeping ti modern at the same time.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while most of the tracks are somewhat short in length with the longest track only being 3 and a half minutes. When guitar leads are utilized on a few tracks they are done in a very chaotic style.
One track also adding in a brief use of open note riffing and as the album progresses a brief war orientated interlude is added onto the recording before returning back to a heavier direction and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them, the outro also introduces elements of harsh noise onto the recording. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism, Blasphemy, Anti Christian and War themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Human Agony and if you are a fan of war, black and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Corpse Wound Of Antichrist" "Doctrine of Cruelty" "Mastered on Crucifix" and "Putrescence Of Calvary". 8 out of 10.
