Bolzer are a duo From Switzerland that has had an album reviewed before in this zine and plays a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2019 ep "Lesse Majesty" which will be released in November by Lightning & Sons.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep while most of t he tracks a re very long and epic in length. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with the vocals bringing in a mixture of black metal s creams and death metal growls and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling. Clean vocals can also be heard briefly while one track also adds in a small amount of whistle singing as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, one track also introduces synths onto the recording and some of the music also shows an influence of war metal.
On this recording Bolzer takes their mixture of black and death metal into a different direction that was not presented on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the primeval essence of the human spirit as well as touching on Irish Mythology with the closing track.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Bolzer and if you are a fan of black and death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE " A Shepard In Wolven Skin" and "Ave Fluvius! Danu Be PRaised". 8 out of 10.
