Havohej are a solo project from Connecticut that has had an album reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes into more of an experimental and ritualistic black metal direction and this is a review of his 2019 album "Table Of Uncreation" which will be released in November by Hells Headbangers.
A very dark and ritualistic sound starts off the album along with some drum beats a few seconds later which also leads to a heavier direction. Bestial growls can also be heard at times while the slower sections of the songs show an influence of doom metal as well as the songs also adding in a great amount of high pitched black metal screams.
At times the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats. A small amount of dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with one track also introducing ritualistic whispers onto the recording.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them along with all of the tracks also sounding very different from each other. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover occultism and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Haveohej and while it is very different from the earlier material, I can still see fans of experimental, ritualistic and occult black metal being into the album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "God Off All Constellation" "Seven Jinn" "Table Of Uncreation" and "Before Them And Behind Them". 8 out of 10.
