Dusk are a band from Costa Rica that plays an industrial form of black metal and this is a review of his 2019 ep "Threnody" which was released by Ritter Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the ep along with a brief use of rain and bell sounds as well as a brief use of whispers and background voices before going into a heavier direction. Industrial elements are also added into the heavier sections of the music along with all of the drum beats being programmed.
A small amount of dissonant melodies can also be heard in the guitar riffing along with some synths also being added into some parts of the music. Vocals also bring in a mixture of bestial growls and high pitched black metal screams as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Clean vocals can also be heard briefly along with some programmed blast beats also being added into the faster sections of the songs as well a s the music also getting very experimental and atmospheric sounding at times, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly, melodic guitar leads are also added onto the closing track. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Dusk are a very great sounding industrial black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Threonody II" and "Threnody V". 8 out of 10.
