Iffernet are a duo from France that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2019 album which was released by WV Sorcerer Productions.
Fire burning sounds start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the tremolo picking and blast beats during the faster sections of the songs gives the music more of a raw feeling. Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the vocals are mostly crazy sounding black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with the riffing also adding a small amount of melody into some parts of the recording as well as the fire burning sounds also returning in some parts of the songs and all of the music also sticks to a heavier direction.
Iffernet plays a style of black metal that is very raw, atmospheric and guitar orientated sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover despondency and despair themes.
In my opinion Iffernet are very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Tales Of Things To Sink" and "Unconquered Sons". 8 out of 10.
