Apolion are a solo project from Italy that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very harsh and instrumental form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2020 ep "Soundtrack For Empty World".
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep while melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the music also adding in a decent amount of 90's and 2000's influences as well as keeping everything instrumental.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the guitar solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and the whole ep also sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording Apolion removes the vocals from earlier releases to create something different while also keeping everything in a very harsh, raw and old school direction and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Apolion and if you are a fan of harsh and instrumental black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mass Murder Fever" and "Perpetual Bloodlust". 8out of 10.
