Barbaric Horde are a band from Portugal that plays a mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Axe Of Superior Savagery" which will be released in June as a joint effort between Godz Of War Productions and Rex Diaboli.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into a very fast, raw and brutal war metal direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while bestial growls can also be heard in some parts of the music.
The music also adds in a good amount of old school influences while also mixing it with a more modern day brutality. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with some songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very chaotic style along with most of the riffing being done mostly on power chords and the music avoids any use of melody as well ad the whole album also always remaing very raw and brutal sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Goetic Demons, Blasphemy, Darkness, War and Violence themes.
In my opinion Barbaric Horde are a very great sounding mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Antichrist Command" "Bow Before The Altar Of Satan" and "Wrath Of Goetic Glorification".
