Montreal, Quebec, Canada's Blight have returned with a new recording which is in the occult black metal direction and this is a review of their 2020 album "Temple Of Wounds" which will be released in June by Svart Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier direction while avant garde style clean singing can also be heard in some parts of the recording. Angry sounding black emtal screams are also a very huge part of all of the songs and the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody.
Spoken word parts can also be heard on a few tracks while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. When guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style.
A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the music also having its atmospheric moments, clean playing and synths can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover inner-alchemical transmutation and antinomian philosophies.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Blight and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dar-Akh-Qayin" "Before The Monolith" "The Aurous Nescience" and "We Left Of Our Own Violition". 8/5 out of 10.
