Soul Butcher are a solo project from Serbia that plays a mixture of raw black metal and punk and this is a review of his self released 2020 demo "Goat Cunt".
A very heavy, old school and punk influenced sound starts off the demo along with some high pitched black emtal screams a few seconds later. A lot of the music also brings in elements of the second wave 90's era and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them.
Touches of d beat can also be heard at times while the guitar solos and leads also remain true to a classic style. Throughput the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the tracks also being very short in length and when tremolo picking and blast beats are added into the faster sections of the music they also give the demo more of a raw feeling.
Soul Butcher plays a musical style that takes a very raw and old school form of black metal and mixes it with punk to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover misanthropy, hatred and desolation themes.
In my opinion Soul Butcher is a very great sounding mixture of raw black metal and punk and if you are a fan of t hose musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Winds Of Old" and "Goat Cunt". 8 out of 10.
