Black Goat are a band from Russia that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very old school and satanic form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Dominion Of Fire" which was released by Iron, Blood & Death Corp.
Tragic sounding synths start off the album while also adding in a variety of many different sounding keys while clean playing can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier musical direction. Most of t he music is also very heavily rooted in the mid 90's to early 90's era.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. Elements of the first wave era can also be heard in the music along with the demonic growls also adding in a touch of death metal and the solos and leads also remain true to an old school style.
Horror movie samples can also be heard briefly along with some of the riffing also showing an influence of speed and thrash metal. Synths also make a return on the later tracks as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing and one track also introduces clean playing onto the recording and towards the end of brief use of ritualistic spoken word parts can also be heard. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover Satanism, Vampirism, Black Magick and Necromancy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Black Goat and if you are a fan of old school, satanic and occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Venefica" "Wrath Of The Damned" and "Dominion Of Fire". 8/5 out of 10.
