Kryptamok are a solo project from Finland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays on this recording plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Verisaarna" which will be released on May 30th by Purity Through Fire.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody as well as some atmospheric sounding synths also being utilized at times.
The music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
Demonic sounding spoken word parts can also be used briefly as well as the music also capturing a very modern atmosphere at times along with one track also introducing clean vocals onto the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars can also be heard. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover dark, apocalyptic and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Krypramok and if you are a fan of raw and atmospheric black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Apokalypsin Epilooki" "Pimeyden Tyranni" and "Verisaama". 8 out of 10.
