Dommedag are a duo with members from Norway and Sweden that plays a very harsh and brutal form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Marburg" which will be released as a joint effort between Void Wanderer and War Productions.
A very fast and r aw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and brutal blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while melodies are also added onto some of the riffing and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The songs also add in a good amount of old school influences while also mixing it in with a more modern aggression along with one track also introducing clean singing onto the album.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style when they are finally utilized and the whole album also sticks to a heavier direction and on the closing track a brief use of spoken word parts can also be heard. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness, winter, war and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion Dommedag are a very great sounding harsh and brutal black metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Whores of Babylon" "Cult Maker" and "Cold Wars". 8 out of 10.
