Dekira are a band that started out in Raleigh, North Carolina but now re-located to San Francisco, California that plays a very aggressive and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Ominous Prophecies" which will be released in June as a joint effort between Void Wanderer and War Productions.
A very distorted sound starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while all of the instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard while the vocals are ,mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while atmospheric elements are also mixed into the heavier sections of the songs. The riffs also add in some melodies as well as the music also adding in a good balance between modern and old school influences, when guitar solos and leads are finally added onto the recording they are done in a very melodic style and as the album progresses clean playing, acoustic guitars and whispers are added into some parts of the recording.
Dekira plays a style of black metal that is very melodic, aggressive and traditional sounding along with some atmospheric touches. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness and hallucinogen themes.
In my opinion Dekira are a very great sounding aggressive and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Foreboding Darkness" "At The Mercy Of The Great Divine" and "Ayahuasca". 8 out of 10.
