Failure Ritual are a band from the United States that plays a very depressive and atmospheric form of black metal with elements of drone and doom and this is a review of their self titled and self released 2012 album.
"Failure Ritual" which is also the first song on the album begins with slow, raw depressive black metal riffs and drums before adding in suicidal screams and after a few minutes drone elements get mixed in with the dsbm riffing and the song for the most part uses the same riff for a long time but adds a different one in 10 minutes later and throws in more distorted and melodic sounding elements.
"Obsession" opens up with some raw, mid paced black metal guitar riffing, drums and dsbm style screams and after 4 minutes it goes into a different riff while also stay being the same direction music wise and later on adding in elements of doom metal.
"Insomnia which is also the last song on the album begins with guitar riffs that combine slow depressive black metal, drone and doom together along with a brief use of suicidal vocals but mostly focusing on the musical instruments and halfway through the sogn you can hear elements of dark ambient coming out of the guitar riffing.
Song lyrics if any cover dark and depressive themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with all of the songs being very long and epic in length,.
In my opinion Failure Ritual are a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric depressive black metal, drone and doom and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Failure Ritual". RECOMMENDED BUY.
