Sathanas Urine are a band from Italy that plays a very lo-fi form of black metal with elements of experimental and punk and this is a review of their 2012 double album "We Belong To Him' which was released by Dipsomaniac Records.
"We Belong To Him'' which is the first song on the album opens up with black metal guitar riffs that are mixed down low in the mix along with drums with the music being mostly mid paced and a couple of minutes alter melodic vocals are added in and the guitar riffing stays the same throughout the song.
"Drowned In Cum" begins with fat and raw black metal/punk guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds alter melodic vocals kick in and then the music slows down and after awhile black metal screams star to slowly come in for only a couple of seconds before focusing more on melodic vocals.
"Dead With An Uranium Bar In the Sink" starts up with drums and distorted sound before adding in guitars along with some vocals a few seconds later that are very heard to hear and are only used for a few seconds and the guitar riff remains the same throughout the song and has a doom metal feeling to it.
"Balam's Kingdom" is a minute only song that starts off with some sound effects and is mostly a noise/experimental piece.
"The Hyerphant" opens with fast raw and primitive black metal riffs along with some drums and you can also hear some melody in the guitar riffing and after a couple of minutes the music slows down and the song is all instrumental.and towards the end the music speeds up again along with blast beats.
"Hidden Cults" comes in with noise and drone sounds that are mostly done on guitars and the song is all instrumental and sticks to the same formula from start to end.
"The Gay Rape Of Sullivan" begins with noisy and distorted guitars along with drums and sticks to a slow or mid paced direction as well as utilizing some melody.
"Sathanas Scrotum' makes it way in with distorted black metal guitar riffing and drums and a minute later melodic vocals kick in and the riff remains the same throughout the song and towards the end the d rums speed up a bit.
"Revok's Conquest" is brought in with heavy drone style guitars which also use a small amount of melody and you can hear some black metal screams in the background and a minute alter melodic vocals start to come in along with a riff that for the most part remains the same throughout the song as well as the black metal and melodic vocals returning in some parts.
"Flower Devourer" which is the closing song on the first disc starts with heavy guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds alter drone elements and melodic vocals are added in and the song sticks to the same riff.
"The Sun Of Melkor" opens up the second disk with amplified drone sounds and a few seconds later drum beats are added in along with heavy guitar riffs and halfway through the song there is a brief use of harsh noise elements and the song closes with synths.
"Fallen Empire" is introduced with distorted amplifier noise along with some heavy guitar riffing and drums and you can hear some vocals in the background and the song uses the same riff until the end of the song.
"A Mental Trip In Masterpieces of Black Metal" has its start with distorted noise and drone sounds along with drums and a few seconds later slow guitar riffs are added into the song and also sticks to t he same formula most of the other songs have.
"Fascist Shit" brings it way on the album with raw guitar riffs and drums which also utilize some blast beats and a few seconds alter small amounts of melody make their way into the guitar riffing.
"Wood Temple" finds it way on the album with some slow heavy drone orientated guitar riffs along with some demonic growls in the background and a few seconds later drums are added in along with some bar chords form the guitars.
"Throat Wine" has its beginnings with heavy lo=fi guitars and drums and a couple of minutes later it starts adding in more variety while also sticking the same formula that is throughout the album and the song alone is more than 30 minutes and the drums also speed up in certain sections of the song and after 20 minutes you can hear some synths in the background as well as elements of noise being added a s well as some chanting that is mixed down very low and a few minutes later you can also hear a small amount of black metal screams
"Black Pistols" begins with some heavy mid paced guitar riffs and drums along with some black metal screams a few seconds later and the song copies riffs from The Sex Pistols and is mostly in a punk direction.
Song lyrics are rarely utilized on the album, while the production has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound with the bass guitars being mixed down in the mix as well as most of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Sathanas Urine are a very great sounding original lo-fi black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "We Belong To Him" "The Sun Of Melkor" "Wood Temple" and "Black Pistols". RECOMMENDED BUY.
