Dark Blasphemer are a band from Argentina that plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2012 demo "Drowning In Depression".
"Intro" brings the album in with some soft and clean playing to set up the beginnings.
"Eternal Sleep" which is also the first real song on the album opens up with slow and melodic black metal guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds later grim sounding high pitched screams kick in and the music goes into a depressive black metal direction.
"Hate & Spirit" begins with raw and melodic black metal guitar riffs before going into a faster direction along with some blast beats from the drums which also leads to grim and depressive screams kicking in and after a minute the music goes into a slower direction and you can hear bass guitars in the background and towards the end there is a brief use of guitar leads.
"Black Warrior" opens up with old school and melodic sounding black metal guitar riffs along with some drums before going into a faster direction and mixing in brutal blast beats and then the screams start kicking in which then leads to the music slowing down and going into a more depressive direction as well as alternating between fast and slow parts.
"Blasphemer" kicks in with fast, heavy, raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar riffs and blast beats from the drums along with some high pitched screams and then the music starts alternating between mid paced and fast parts as well as mixing in slow depressive sections.
"Dead Emperor" starts up with slow and melodic depressive black metal guitar riffs and a few seconds later drums and screams start to kick in and you can hear the bass guitars before the music goes into a faster direction along with some blast beats and then alternating between slow and fast parts and the song closes with some pianos.
"Suicide My Mind" hits it off with dark and melodic black metal guitar riffs before adding in drums and going into a more depressive direction and a few seconds later screams and bass guitars make their way into the song and the song remains in a slower direction.
"Tenebris Artium" makes its way in with dark and heavy sounding black metal guitar riffs and a few seconds later bass guitars and drums kick in which also leads up to some high pitched depressive screams and the song sticks to the same direction.
"Devastation World" is introduced with fast and melodic black metal guitar riffs along with some drums which also utilize blast beats and then the depressive screams kick in which leads to the music going into a more mid paced direction before adding in slower sections.
"Drowning In Depression" which is also the title track opens up with slow and dark depressive black metal guitar and bass riffs along with some drums and then the high pitched screams kick in and the guitar riffing gets more melodic and a minute later you can hear a slight use of thrash elements which make the song more mid paced and then going back to a slower direction.
"Dawn Of Destruction" is brought in with fast, raw and primitive melodic black metal guitar riffs along with blast beats from the drums and high pitched screams before going into a more slow and depressive direction as well as mixing melody in the guitar riffing and towards the end the music starts getting fast again.
"Outro" closes the album with some dark sounding clean guitar playing.
Song lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, while the production has a very heavy, raw and primitive sound to it while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
